Dr. Glen David Heggie, 74, passed away at home Sunday March 1, 2020 in the care of family and his loving wife of 46 years, Claudia. Glen was the son of Glen Delano & Mary Jane (Utley) Heggie. He was born on November 15, 1945 in Michigan City, IN. He grew up with 3 brothers; Dennis, Tim, and Mark. On May 22, 1974 in Detroit Michigan, Glen married the love of his life Claudia (Hofer) Heggie. Dr. Heggie completed his undergrad in chemistry at Wooster University in Ohio and would later complete medical school at the University of Michigan. He retired from the West Michigan Cancer Center and held degrees in Oncology, Hematology, Geriatrics, and Internal Medicine. He gave love, hope, and compassion to all of his patients. Glen was also a veteran of the United States Army. Glen enjoyed flowers and gardening. He was also an avid sports fan of his Alma Mater, The University of Michigan. Every football season, Glen spent nearly every Saturday with family and friends cheering on the Wolverines and tailgating at The Big House. Dr. Heggie was an amazing husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to many. He is survived by his wife Claudia. 5 children; Melanie Christler, Patrick Trujillo, Dave Heggie, Alex Heggie, and Glen Heggie. 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Brothers; Mark Heggie and Tim Heggie. Thank you for blessing us and for being a part of our lives. You have left an incredible legacy. Love you always. Until we meet again. A celebration of life with be held from 1:00pm-4:00pm, Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the Four Points by Sheraton 3600 E Cork St Ct, Kalamazoo, MI 49001.
