Dortha Borlik

Age 101, of Kalamazoo died peacefully surrounded by her children, Tuesday October 27, 2020. Born August 16, 1919, in Hartford, Michigan to James (Ora) Hamill. United in marriage on February 14, 1942 to the late Raymond Borlik. Survived by children; John (Diane) Borlik, David (Terri) Borlik, Anne (Fritz) Cheek, James (Nanette) Borlik. Also survived by grandchildren; John Borlik Jr., Laurie Borlik, Sarah Toomey, Katie Mouatt, Joseph Borlik, Stephen Borlik, Matthew Borlik, Amber Nevenzel, and Kyle Hamstra, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.Preceded in death by her parents, husband of 38 years Raymond and siblings; Ruth (Theodore) Phillips, Norma (Frank) Colby, Charlotte Esther Hamill, Eileen (George) Ross, Donna (Red) Smith, Morgan (Aline) Hamill and Harold (Peggy) Hamill. An avid swimmer, Dortha was a lifetime member of the YMCA. She was also active in horseback riding, running, downhill skiing and sailing her Sunfish on Gun and Gull lakes. Dortha was an extensive traveler throughout the United States. She especially enjoyed her China, Yugoslavia and Africa trips. Dortha loved to garden and tend to her roses. She was a wonderful cook and baker. She radiated good health and life. Her legacy will be her indomitable spirit, wit, sense of humor and love of family. Private Services are being held for Dortha and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the summer of 2021.
