Dorothy Van Linder

Dorothy R. Van Linder, age 87, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away Monday afternoon, February 1, 2016. Dorothy was born August 13, 1928 in Benton Harbor, MI the daughter of Frederick and Laverne (Stafford) Graham. Prior to her retirement she worked for several years in the office of Ethan Allan Furniture. Dorothy was a very generous and giving person and was known for her many acts of kindness. She enjoyed attending Lighthouse Community Church, doing puzzles, reading, and music. She especially enjoyed spending time with her loving family. On July 21, 1951 she was united in marriage to her loving husband of nearly 65 years, Basil Van Linder, who survives. Also surviving are her children, Howard (Janice) Holcomb, Sharon (Larry) Sincler, Karen (Peteris) Berzins, Marcia (Howard) Snyder; 7 grandchildren, Heather, Matt, Jesse, Miranda, Emilia, and Jakob; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Beverly Nickelson; and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by a grandchild, Jaime; and brothers and sisters, Wesley (who died in Pearl Harbor), Ernest, Thelma, Norma, and Hank. There will be no services or visitation.
