Dorothy Hinckley

Dorothy passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018 at her home. She was born on December 9, 1922 in Maynard, Arkansas, the daughter of Lehman and Florence (Poff) Large. Dorothy was employed by Michigan Bell for 31 years until her retirement in 1972. On November 3, 1972, she was united in marriage to Edwin Hinckley, who preceded her in death on May 5, 2007; brother: George Large; sister: Catherine Berendt; and brother-in-law: William Walker. Surviving are her two daughters: Vikki Dykstra and Rebecca (Ed) VanderMeeden; four grandchildren who Dorothy loved greatly: Michelle (Eugene) Erdos; Richard Jr. (Anne) Dykstra, Jason Dykstra, and Teri Dykstra; four great-grandchildren: Chandler Erdos, Nolan Jones, Hannah Dykstra and Alaina Dykstra; sister: Pearline Walker; sister-in-law: Nancy Large; brother-in-law: Don Berendt; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 8, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street.
