Doreen Landstra

Doreen E. Landstra, age 81, of Allegan and Palmetto Florida, died Thursday, April 16, 2015, at the Tidewell Hospice House in Palmetto, Florida. Doreen was born February 24, 1934, in Grand Rapids, the daughter of James and Margaret (Miller) Ellis. She had worked as a bookkeeper most of her life, and retired from a large law firm in Grand Rapids. Her lifelong passion was Christian music, she was a choir director at churches in both Michigan and Florida, and enjoyed playing both piano and organ. She was a member at Dunningville Reformed Church. Surviving are her husband: Fred; 5 children: Jacob and Joyce Smitter, Christy Landstra, Joel and Leah Smitter, Dale and Annette Landstra, Jack and Sherri Landstra; 17 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Jon; 2 brothers, George and Danny; and her sister, Marie. Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 12 noon till service time at 2pm at the Dunningville Reform Church, Pastor Chris Timmer will officiate. Interment in Hudson Corners Cemetery, Allegan Twp. Memorials may be made to the Tidewell Hospice House, 4151 37th St. E., Palmetto, FL 34221.
