LAMOREAUX - Mr. Donald Lamoreaux, aged 91 of Belmont, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Caroline Lamoreaux, granddaughter, Toni Perkins, brothers, Clarence and Richard Lamoreaux. Surviving are his loving wife of 68 years, Ardis; children, Carolyn (Lou) Sabin, Donald K. (Mary Jo) Lamoreaux, Donna (Lynn) Klungle, Pamela Perkins, Alice (Tom) Matthews; grandchildren, Lou Jr., Brian (Kelli) and Michael Sabin, Brian Lamoreaux, Kelly Lamoreaux, Colleen (Brent) Tate, Bridget Lamoreaux, Julie (Dana) Kleinjans, Cynthia (Terry) Thenikl, Dawn (Neal) Kooiman, Marcus Perkins, Amanda Matthews; great grandchildren, Samantha, Lou III Sabin, Ryan, Zachery and Lucas Sabin, Blake, Austin and Olivia Lamoreaux, Kelsey, Mckenna and Kennedy Lamoreaux, Tyler and Joseph Thenikl, Mitchell, Katlin and Holly Kooiman, Paige Fansler, Chelsea (Brian) Alley, Chase Perkins; sister, Esther Lamoreaux; sister-in-law, Ann Lamoreaux; brothers-in-law, Phillip (Dorothy) Nielsen, Marvin Matthews; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and many treasured friends. He graduated from Comstock Park High School where he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. He also received a Business Degree from the University of Grand Rapids. Mr. Lamoreaux was the owner of Lamoreaux's General Store in Comstock Park for many years, he also was Plainfield Township Treasurer and served as Supervisor of Plainfield Township for 38 years. He was a charter member of the Comstock Park Rotary Club, Elks Lodge, Ushers Club at Assumption of BVM, was involved in Comstock Park Little League and was active in many other civic and community organizations. In 1982, Donald J. Lamoreaux County Park was established and named after him. His hobbies that he enjoyed were golf and bowling. He proudly served his country during WWII in the Army. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 6369 Belmont NE with Rev. Peter Vu as celebrant. Interment Greenwood Cemetery in Sparta. The family will greet relatives and friends Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Dr. NE.
