Donald Joseph Himschoot, age 89, passed away January 12, 2023. He was born September 8, 1933, in Mishawaka, Indiana, the son of Cyriel & Henrietta (Kline) Himschoot. He has been a Kalamazoo resident since 1951. Don served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from Eaton Corporation in 1996 after 29 years. He was a long-time member of St. Augustine Cathedral. Don was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Marti (Val) Ozlins and his wife Joann Himschoot. Don was united in marriage to Joann Wallace on October 8, 1955. He is survived by his children, Patty (Dave) Butler of Kalamazoo, Tom (Mary Louise) Himschoot of Mishawaka, IN, Jane (Daryl) Powell of Lapeer and Steve Himschoot (Kelly Bower) of Otsego; seven grandchildren: Jared Butler & Danielle (Buddy) Philmon, Misty (Brandon) Yanowski, Sarah (Daniel) Lowers & Jacob Himschoot and Cy & Selena Himschoot; five great-grandchildren: Lydia & Baylyn Yanowski, Kiera Butler, and Liam & Luke Lowers; his siblings: Robert (Phyllis) Himschoot of Mishawaka, IN, MaryAnn (George) Grygiel of Green Valley, AZ; a sister-in-law, Sharon (Greg) Thomas; a companion Edna Delich; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 18th, 2023, at 10:00 AM, at St. Augustine Cathedral, 542 W Michigan Ave., Kalamazoo, MI 49007, with Father Robert Creagan presiding. A graveside with military honors will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday afternoon in Ft Custer National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should be in the cemetery cortege area by 1:15 pm. Friends may gather with the family for a memorial gathering on Wednesday, January 18th from 3:00-5:00 PM, at The Fountains of Bronson Place, 1700 Bronson Way, Kalamazoo, MI 49009.
