Dick J. Durian

Durian, Dick J. Portage Dick J. Durian passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at the age of 75. He was born in Kalamazoo, MI on February 22, 1947, to the late Garrett and Thelma (Dykema) Durian. Dick was a project manager for Mall City Mechanical and longtime member of Converge Community Church, which was formerly known as Milwood Christian Reformed Church. He enjoyed playing fast pitch softball, which he did for over 50 years, as well as bowling and baseball. Dick married Ruth Kloosterman on July 19, 1968, and together they shared 54 years of marriage. Dick is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Durian; two sons, Matthew (Lisa) Durian and Richard (Beth) Durian; five grandchildren, Richard Jacob Durian, Claire Emily (Connor) Kelley, LillieAnn Rose Durian, Richelle Jordan Durian and Nicolas Matthew Durian; two sisters, Jeanne Smit and Ruthie Gruizenga. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Phyllis Dykstra. Visitation will be held Friday, December 16, 2022, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Converge Community Church 3306 Lovers Lane Kalamazoo, MI 49001. A Memorial Service will take place at the church on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 11:00am.
