Dennis Black

Dennis H. Black, age 87, of Moore Park passed away on July 8, 2020. Dennis was born March 24, 1933 at home in the dining room at 11:10 that night. Dennis attended Moore Park school from primary thru the eighth grade onto Three Rivers High School and graduated with the class of 1951. He was president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce from 1963-1964, he was a member of the Three Rivers Elk Lodge #1248 and served as exalted ruler from 1973-1974. He was also a member of the fraternal order of the Eagles Post Aerie #2303, the American Legion Hice-Shutes Post #170, and a life-time member of the Masons. He worked at Three Rivers Casting and Foundry from 1951-1955, the Johnson Corporation from 1955-1979, he purchased and ran the Tap Room in Three Rivers, MI in 1979 and retired in 1999. After retirement he enjoyed his days working on the family farm. He was married to Betty Jean Seitz on September 7, 1952, later divorced. He was married to Eleanor Lunsford in 1971, later divorced. He was married to Barbara Bush, who passed away in 1992. He found a long-term companion in Donna Dorrance who passed away after 18 years together. Dennis went to the Moore Park Church when he was very young with Mr. Wilbur and continued til he went to high school. He also went to the Ninth Street Methodist, the First Methodist, and Bethany Chapel. Later and last to a spiritual church in Battle Creek, he became a spiritualist believing in spirits and souls, also in psychics. He had many highs and lows through his life as well as much happiness and sorrow. He passed thinking he had a good and interesting life. He is survived by two daughters: Denise Black and Sally Black; one granddaughter: Beatrice Jane Black; six stepchildren; and two nieces and two nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Helen (Sherer) Black and father Clarence W. Black; two brothers: Elmer and Smiley; former wives: Betty Jean Seitz, Eleanor Lunsford, Barbara Bush, and Donna Dorrance; and his closest lifelong friends: Al Anderson, and Gale Thompson. Honorary pallbearers: Pete Bonebright and the late Dick Harden He passed hating no one. Believing all people are equal regardless of race, religion, or nationality. A private graveside service has been held at Moore Park Cemetery in Park Twp, MI.
