Delores Gardner, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away on April 2, 2017 at the age of 83. Delores was born on August 20, 1933 in Minot, North Dakota. She was the daughter of Arthur and Clara (Rumreich) Vigard. At an early age, Delores showed that she was gifted, by getting high marks in school. Delores graduated from the University of Miami, Oxford, OH with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education where she was tapped for mortar board. There she graduated cum laude, was the president of her sorority, and a member of the national honor society. She married the love of her life James Gardner on June 30, 1956. They decided to raise a family together as she attended Western Michigan University for a Master’s Degree in Education.

Delores is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jim; children: Jim Jr. (Sarah) and Dave (Christine); 5 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, who were a major influence in Delores’s life.

Visit with Delores’ family and friends on Monday, April 10 and Tuesday, April 11 from 4 to 7pm, at Life Story Funeral Home, 120 S. Woodhams, Plainwell (269-649-1697). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, with Father Ben Huynh officiating at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, 766 S. Farmer St, Otsego.
