Deborah Wagner

Deborah Lorraine (Fanta) Wagner, age 66, of Gobles, MI, formerly of Calumet City, IL, passed away November 22, 2015. Beloved wife of Ben Wagner, formerly of Hammond, Indiana, proud daughter of Joan Lorraine (late James) Fanta, mother of Nicole, Stacy (Benjamin) Danosky, and Brian, devoted grandmother "Mimi" to Camden and Lyla, dear sister of James (Jim & Laura) Fanta, Claudia (Robert) Sausaman and Kevin (Mary) Fanta. Debbie graduated from T.F. North High School in Calumet City, IL, in 1967, Western Illinois University in 1971 and in 1985 she completed an Early Childhood Development Certification at Michigan State University. Debbie retired in August 2015 from St. Mary's Catholic School in Paw Paw, where she had worked for 30 years teaching first grade and serving as assistant principal. Debbie had also worked for 10 years at Head Start. Debbie along with her friend Pita, founded AYSO Soccer in Gobles, MI 30 years ago. Debbie's friendship and laughter was enjoyed by many, she especially enjoyed the last 40 years with her Gobles ladies club and having dinner every month with her high school friends. Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 from 4-8 p.m., at the Adams Funeral Home, 502 W, Michigan Ave., Paw Paw, MI. Funeral services will be held Wednesday beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, proceeding to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 500 Paw Paw St, Paw Paw, for mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Joseph Xaiver officiating. Cremation will follow. Memorial donations may be made to the Debbie Wagner Tuition Assistance Program at St. Mary's School in Paw Paw.
