A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 24th at Noon at the Yorkville Community Church, 11523 East D Avenue, Richland, MI 49083, where David and his wife, Beverly, attended and with the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard bestowing military honors.

David Sergeant Warner, age 81, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 in the arms of his loving wife, Beverly. He was born November 14, 1938 in Kalamazoo, MI, the son of Jerome and Elizabeth (Sergeant) Warner. David grew up in the Kalamazoo, and spent summers at Gull Lake since 1948. He married the former, Beverly Jean Fender on December 28, 1960 at the First United Methodist Church of Kalamazoo, who survives him. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and Beloit (WI) College. David was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, where he lettered in football and track. Following college, he served his Country honorably and nobly during the Vietnam War in the United States Marine Corps, where he attended Officers Candidates School in Quantico, VA. David spent 48 years in management positions with the Paper Industry in Kalamazoo and Chicago, IL. In addition to his wife, also surviving is a sister, Jerrie Ann Hilbert of Kalamazoo; a sister-in-law, Maria Warner Gesmundo of Delton, MI; special cousins, John Dykhouse of New Jersey, Elizabeth Dykhouse of Gull Lake and Mary Eleanor Farrar of New York; nephews, Andrew Warner of Lake Leelanau, MI and Russel Fender of Kalamazoo; nieces, Kristin Warner and Karen Smith, both of Kalamazoo. David was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Deborah Elizabeth Warner on February 26, 2002; a brother, Andrew in 1990; his parents; cousin, Tom Warner and brother-in-law, J. Mike Hilbert. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held in Yorkville Cemetery, Ross Township. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring of 2020 at the Yorkville Community Church, Richland, MI, where David and his wife, Beverly, attended and with the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard bestowing military honors. A luncheon will immediately follow the Church Service at the Gull Lake Country Club. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in David's honor may be directed to Yorkville Community Church, 11523 East D Avenue, Richland, MI 49083; the Kalamazoo County Humane Society, 4239 South Westnedge Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI 49002 or the Ross-Augusta Fire Department, 12086 M-89, Richland, MI 49083.
