Fitzjohn, David L. Of Kalamazoo, MI David L. Fitzjohn, age 83, passed away August 8, 2021 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, due to complications from a major brain bleed. David was born June 9, 1938 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of Bert and Alice (Hess) Fitzjohn. He was a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School, received his Associates Degree in Applied Science from Kalamazoo Valley Community College and served during peace time for a short time in the U.S Navy. David was a longtime Kalamazoo area resident, he worked for 41 years as a design engineer with National Water Lift (Parker Hannifin) prior to his retirement on July 31, 2000. David served on the board at Kalsee Credit Union for several years. He was a member of the Kalamazoo Corvette Club for many years and loved driving his 1964 red Corvette in road rallies and on trips with the Corvette Club. He was an avid bowler and golfer and thoroughly enjoyed his weekly leagues as well as several golf outings with his golfing buddies. David enjoyed attending the many sporting events his grandsons participated in. He also enjoyed traveling. On November 4, 2017, he was united in marriage to Mary Bradley, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter Debra Fitzjohn-Wright; three grandsons Tyler (Emily) Wright, Dylan Wright and Ryan Wright; a sister Beverly Sink; and many other special relatives and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents. In accordance with David's wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service to celebrate David's life will be held Sunday August 29, 2021 at 1:30pm, at Kalamazoo Covenant Church, 5708 E, Main Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49048. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service time. A private family entombment will be held in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials in David's memory may be directed to Kalamazoo Covenant Church or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
