Constance "Connie" Joan Jones, age 78, of Kalamazoo passed away October 14, 2021. She was born February 11, 1943 in Nashville, MI to the late Clifton and Arloa (Swift) Baxter. She grew up on the Baxter family farm with her older brother David and younger brothers, Steven and Rodney. Music was a very big part of all the children's lives and Connie went on to play the saxophone and the piano. After graduating from Nashville High School, she attended Western Michigan University as a music major and went on to get both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education. Connie met her loving husband, Clancy Jones of 52 years, while working as a job-site coordinator for PNHS. They married in 1969 and soon after celebrated the births of sons Sean and Matthew. Connie was a passionate educator for over 40 years. She spent her 33-year teaching career at Portage Public Schools, primarily teaching computers and keyboarding at Portage Northern and then at KVCC for the next 10 years. After retiring from teaching, she seamlessly moved into the role of grandma to her three granddaughters. Connie enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and families. She loved walking, gardening, and playing golf. She was cheerful, happy, and loved by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Arloa, and brother, Steven. She is survived by her husband Clancy, sons Sean (Mary Jane) and granddaughter Mila; Matt (Emily) and granddaughters Kenley and Isla; brothers David (Nancy) and Rod (Beth). The family will greet friends Sunday, October 17 from 12-1:00PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where a service will immediately follow at 1:00PM.
