Clara Ouding

Clara Wilma (Hurley) Ouding, age 97, of Comstock, MI was reunited in heaven with her husband James on Monday April 24, 2017. She was born on January 1, 1920 in Lawrence, MI the daughter of the late Dennis and Minda (Eastman) Hurley. Clara was united in marriage to her loving husband James Ouding on January 11, 1938. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1984. She was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Bruce Lynn, an infant son, Henry H. Ouding; and 12 brothers and sisters. Clara lived in Comstock and raised her family there. She cooked in many restaurants in the Comstock area and retired from Western Michigan University in 1984. Clara was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed playing bingo, traveling, and most all spending time with her family. She loved her family and leaves 9 children, Norma Cooley, James Ouding, Dennis (Sharon) Ouding, Don (Deborah) Ouding, Lenna Ouding, Angeline Wojdyla, Henry (Kandice) Ouding, Timothy Ouding, Terri Ouding; daughter-in-law, Patty Ouding; 24 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many great friends here and in Florida. Friends may meet the family from 2-4 and 6-8pm Thursday April 27 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway where services will be held at 11:00am Friday April 28 with Rev. Jim Dyke officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kairos Dwelling.
