Beckers , Christopher Scott On Saturday, February 12, 2022, Christopher Scott Beckers passed away at the age of 58 in his hometown of Allegan, Michigan. Chris was the son of Jack and Sally Beckers, tipping the scales at 10 lbs. 8 ounces at birth. He was also known by family as "Brolo". The nurse who carried him to his mother said, she should put him down and make him walk. Early years he lived an idyllic childhood at Dumont Lake, in Allegan, Michigan. This is where he first developed his great love for the outdoors where he swam, fished, caught turtles, water skiing and many, many hours of joy on his motorcycle. Sundays after church he enjoyed family time on the pontoon, where he and the family would catch turtles, mark them, and release them. For years he enjoyed recatching some of those turtles. He was an avid water-skier and trick skier, where he would ski with his father and climb up on his father's shoulders. He learned all there was to be known about hunting, trapping, fishing and his appreciation for nature and the outdoors from his father, Jack. It was at Dumont Lake where he received his first of many motorcycles. He spent hours upon hours riding through the County Farm trails with the Dumont Lake Gang. These were some of his happiest days. In the winter months he put away the motorcycle and pulled out the snowmobile and back on the trails he went. In the late 70s, he moved to Rochester, Michigan where he graduated from Rochester Adams High School in 1982. He earned his varsity letters in football and wrestling. He enjoyed the camaraderie with his teammates and the great after game and match parties. After high school, he pursued and obtained a teaching degree from Western Michigan University. He taught middle school math and science In Allegan, MI, Holly, MI, and Howe, Indiana. His love for children was evident throughout his teaching career. He coached wrestling and cross country and treasured his time with the kids. He had a natural connection with his students, and they loved him. He often would run into a former student in town and would light up at hearing them call out Mr. Beckers. Chris was an incredibly gifted craftsman and woodworker. He also made custom fishing poles, knives and beautiful carved walking sticks. He loved giving his handmade crafts as gifts, it brought him such joy in customizing these for each person. Chris lived a simple life. His bib overalls became his adult attire, this included light blue overalls, dark blue overalls, faded and torn overalls. Let's just say he was not a suit and tie guy. He was a magnet for dogs and kids. He absolutely loved dogs; He thought all a guy really needed was a good dog. Chris found humor in the most mundane life circumstances. He could bring a smile to your face and laugh along at you and with you. He was quite the jokester and loved playing pranks on family and friends. If you were fortunate or unfortunate enough to have been pranked, then he loved you. He always enjoyed a great laugh. Chris' unwavering faith in his Heavenly Father was present in all his life and carried him through many trials and tribulations. When you think of Chris, celebrate the good memories you have of him. Remember that life is fragile and short. Hug those you love and love without limit. Life will be forever changed in Chris' physical absence on this earth. We will all miss him dearly; we will miss his bright smile and the twinkle in his eyes. We will all look for him in the laughter we hear around us, feel him in the wind around us, and we will see him in the skies above us. We will cling to the love and laughter he left in us, for that will remain a part of us all. Chris was preceded in death by his father John (Jack) Beckers. He is survived by his loving mother Sally Beckers, his brother Kelly Beckers (Roberta), sister Julie Sosnowski (Bob), sister Jackie Goforth (Bill), sister Kitty Rauschert (Ken), and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, at 110 N Cedar Street, Allegan, Michigan 49010, on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. There will be a funeral mass at Blessed Sacrament at 11:00 AM. We also invite you to join us for a luncheon following the service. Memorial donations may be made to: Leader Dog for the Blind 1039 S.
