Charles Vermeulen

Vermeulen, Charles F. 11/12/1925 - 11/22/2016 Saugatuck, MI Charles F. VerMeulen, 91, of Saugatuck (formerly of Kalamazoo), MI, passed away at his home on Tuesday, November 22, 2016. Charles was born in Kalamazoo, MI on November 12, 1925 to Jacob and Minnie (Betke) VerMeulen. After proudly serving in the U.S. Navy, Chuck earned his B.S. Degree in Business Administration from Western Michigan University in 1950, and was a co-owner of Leonard Sheet Metal, Inc. for most of his working life. Chuck liked to travel with his family, and particularly enjoyed visiting historical and educational sites. He was very fond of the game of golf both as player and spectator, and on many pleasant evenings could be seen walking with his dog Lucy in search of others' lost golf balls. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; brothers James, Edward and Gerald, and daughter Laura VerMeulen Hatrick. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Jane (Kull) VerMeulen, daughter Patricia VerMeulen, son Steven VerMeulen, son-in-law Richard Hatrick, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place per Chuck's wishes. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
