Van Ostran, Charles 12/17/1935 - 1/29/2021 Climax Scotts Charles Van Ostran, 85 Resident of Climax Scotts, Charles Elda Van Ostran, 85 passed away Jan. 29th, 2021 at Hospice of Kalamazoo. At his request, no service will be held. Mr. Van Ostran was born Dec. 17th, 1935 in Traverse City, Michigan to Charles and Marie Van Ostran. Charles met his wife Deanna Jean Brown while in High school, as their love grew, Charles proposed to Dee at the Cheery Bowl Drive in Theater and they were married on Oct. 19th 1954. They moved to Kalamazoo where he worked for Rex Paper Company and played baseball in his spare time. Then in 1965, Charles was hired by General Motors where he spent 30 years as a Journeyman Tool and Die Maker. He retired in 1995 and moved to Climax, Scotts where he enjoyed gardening, fishing and vacationing in Traverse City with Kathy and Neil. Charles spent his life as a diehard fan of the Detroit Tigers, Lions, U of M, and the Spartans. Charles is survived by his wife of 66 years, Deanna; brothers and their spouses Bert and Pam and Lyle and sisters and their spouses Doris and Ed and Ruth. Also, sons and their spouses Charles and Nancy, Scott and Carmin and Doug and Dee, finally, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grand children, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his mother and father, his son Terry and his granddaughter Jennifer. Langland Funeral Home
