Charles Tolhurst

Charles A. Tolhurst, age 90 of Richland, died August 4, 2020. He was born January 21, 1930, in Indiana, the son of Alfred and Helen (Hurt) Tolhurst. Chuck graduated from Central High School in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Chuck married Mary Caldwell and together they had three children. After her death, Chuck was later married to Loretta Tinklenberg. He retired as a welder from Clark Equipment in Battle Creek. Chuck loved to be active and enjoyed golf, bowling, hunting and fishing. His family includes his wife Loretta Tolhurst; his children: Kandice (Tim) Perry, Charles Tolhurst, Jr., and Timothy (Lois) Tolhurst; his grandchildren: Shannon (Jack) Fritz, Jason (Katie) Tolhurst, Eric Tolhurst, Nathan (Alexandra) Tolhurst, John Perry and Joe Perry; his 9 great-grandchildren; his sister Mary Ellen Powell; and several nieces and nephews. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary, and his great-granddaughter Alise Perry. A limited person visitation with social distancing and masks required will be held on Monday, August 10, 2020 at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 622 S. Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49007, where we will adhere to the 10 person maximum in the facility at a time. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at 11:30 AM at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South, on Westnedge Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Chuck may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
