Roberts, III, Charles F. 5/29/1951 - 11/25/2022 Kalamazoo Mr. Charles F. Roberts, III, "Chuck", 71, of Kalamazoo, died Friday, November 25, 2022. Chuck was born May 29, 1951, to Mr. Charles F. and Juanita M. Roberts, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Chuck was active in the 4-H Club in Kalamazoo County and was a championship wrestler for Otsego High School. He graduated from High School in 1969. After graduation he worked for a short time and then followed in his brothers footsteps by enlisting in the United States Navy. He later learned that a law had been passed preventing siblings from serving together, due to siblings who were killed in the same attack. He served in the Vietnam War, and was severely attacked and beaten by United States Military Personnel. The attack left him with severe Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. However, he was able to contact the American Civil Liberties Union, to get legal redress. Following his Honorable Discharge, he enrolled in an apprenticeship program for Electricians in Kalamazoo and later became a Journeyman Electrician. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Mr. Roberts met and later married the marvelous Ethel Mae Sanders, and became stepfather to three sons. His wife preceded him in death October 14, 2020. Survivors include, step-sons, Dana (Debbie) Sanders, Seattle, Washington, Joseph Sanders, Atlanta, Georgia, Curtis Harris, II, Tampa, Florida, brothers, Patrick (Esa) Roberts, Kent, Washington, Ronald Roberts, Lansing, Michigan, and Jerome Roberts, Kalamazoo, Michigan, sisters, Jacqueline Mitchell, Oro Valley, Arizona, Rose M. Yore, Springfield, Michigan, Angela Roberts, Puyallup, Washington. Visitation, 1:00 - 3:00 pm, Sunday, December 11, 2022, T M Hughes-Perry Mortuary, Battle Creek. Services, 11:00 am, Monday, December 12, 2022, T M Hughes-Perry Chapel, with burial at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta.
