Obituary
Charles Duskin, age 90, of Holland passed away Sunday, June 17, 2012. He was born in Alliance, NE, on September 25, 1921, to Ira and Nellie Duskin. Charles became or-dained and commissioned as an officer in The Salva-tion Army following his training at The Salvation Army School for Officer Training in 1942. He re-tired in 1982 as a Major. During his 40 years of service, his appointments included Watertown, SD; Deadwood, SD; Omaha, NE; Mitchell, SD; Kear-ney, NE; Rapid City, SD; Sioux City, IA; Lincoln, NE; Benton, Harbor, MI; Ludington, MI; Muske-gon, MI; Holland, MI; South Bend, IN; Detroit, MI; Davenport, IA, and Cedar Rapids, IA. In Charles’ retirement, he worked on the commit-tee that opened Evergreen Commons and continued to volunteer there for many years. He also was active in the Kiwanis Club. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lurline; his children, DeWayne and Pam Duskin of Sturgis, MI, Paul and Mary Duskin of Peoria, IL, and Miriam and Kevin Cartwright of Van-dalia, MI; eight grandchil-dren and 10 great-grand-children; brother- in- law, Daryl and Mary Louise Finley of Everett, WA. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Lange-land- Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 East 16th Street, Holland. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the fu-neral home and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Restlawn Me-morial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be given to the Salvation Army of Holland.
