Charlene Zuydwegt

Charlene Zuydwegt passed away November 22, 2015 with her devoted and loving husband of 39 years, John Zuydwegt by her side. Char was born May 22, 1956 to Willis and Fumie Oviatt. Upon graduation from Martin Public Schools, she began her career in the booming paper industry. Char truly treasured her family and especially enjoyed the annual July camping trip. She also was a voracious reader, phenomenal cook and talented gardener. She was lovingly referred to as Grandma Horsey, because she was an avid horsewoman before her health began to fail. She enjoyed trail-riding on her trusty mount Stryde with husband John on his mare Dixie close beside enjoying this time in nature together. A memorial service to honor Char will be held on Wednesday December 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Reformed Church. Char was preceded in death by her son John William “Bill” Zuydwegt, her father Willis Oviatt, her brother Charles Kenji Oviatt and her father-in-law John Zuydwegt, Sr. She is survived by her husband John Jr.; her daughter Michelle (Greg) Westendorp; her grandchildren Brennon and Kylie Westendorp and Dylan and Mayson Zuydwegt; her mother Fumie Oviatt; mother-in-law Mary Zuydwegt; sisters Carol (Jack) Drummond and Christine Oetman; brother-in-laws Phil (Becky) Zuydwegt and Henry (Michelle) Zuydwegt; sister-in-law Peggy Faherry; her nieces Shaunna (Brian) Ford and Marisa Zuydwegt; her nephews Robert Drummond, Shane (Melissa) Oviatt, Kyle Oetman and Jack Drummond III, Joshua Oetman, Patrick Oetman, Zack Zuydwegt, Alex Faherry, Stewart Faherry as well as many other relatives.
