Who resided at The Fountains of Bronson Place in Kalamazoo, MI, went home to be with the Lord on April 22, 2020. Born October 1, 1930 in Muskegon, MI, Catherine was the daughter of the late Rudolph H. and Ruth V. (Nystrom) Marxer. She graduated from Muskegon High School in 1948 and Parsons' Business College in 1950. Catherine married her high school sweetheart, Donald Lamont Griesbach on January 29, 1955 at First Park Congregational Church in Grand Rapids, MI. They honeymooned in Fort Knox, Kentucky beginning a lifelong love of travel. Early years of marriage were spent in Nuremberg, Germany during Don's military deployment. Catherine worked as a secretary in the Palace of Justice following the Nuremberg trials. Later, she enjoyed 25 years at Kalamazoo College as secretary in the student health service. During the child rearing years, Catherine encouraged her children's pursuits as a Girl Scout leader, dance class chauffeur, band booster, youth theater groupie, and Little League concession stand volunteer all while taking community education classes in crock pot and microwave cooking! Upon retirement in 1994 to Bradenton, FL, Catherine volunteered at Blake Hospital as a courier and as a docent conducting school field trips at Bishop Museum of Science and Nature. She enjoyed her memberships in the Mount Vernon garden and bridge clubs between traveling around the world on 17 cruises. She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Donald, and three loving children: Linda (Jerry M.) Sopher of LaSalle, MI, Sandra (Neil) Bremer of Portage, MI and John (Julie) Griesbach also of Portage, MI. Three cherished granddaughters, Catherine Sopher, Anna Griesbach and Bonnie Bremer, and several nieces and nephews will cherish her memory. In addition to her parents Catherine is proceeded in death by her devoted sister, Bonnie M. Doyle, of Grand Rapids, MI. Catherine will be laid to rest at Mona View Cemetery in Muskegon Heights, MI where private graveside services will be held. In honor of Catherine's memory, donations may be directed to Kindred Care Hospice, 1911 W. Center Ave., Portage, MI 49024.
