Rimmke, Caryl A. Portage Caryl passed away on Friday December 2, 2022 in her home. Caryl was born on January 27, 1953 in Joliet, IL. She was the daughter of Leslie and Mildred (Motta) Southcomb. Caryl was an extraordinary wife and mother. Prior to having children, she worked to put her husband through school. Once a mother, she really flourished. She enjoyed every minute of raising her three boys. She constantly volunteered at various school functions while carting her kids to a variety of sporting events. When she wasn't parenting, Caryl enjoyed shopping trips with her friends, bowling, and being active at her church. Additionally, she enjoyed volunteering at the West Michigan Cancer Center and working at the local Hallmark store. Caryl had a seemingly infinite number of friends and it's quite possible that she knew every single person in the entire city of Portage. She will be remembered by those who love her as always putting others before herself. Despite being diagnosed with two untreatable progressive conditions, Caryl never complained. She continued to put others before herself to the best of her ability until her final day. On June 7, 1975 Caryl was united in marriage to her loving husband William Rimmke, who survives. Also surviving are her sons, Bryan (Michelle) Rimmke, Nathan (Jennifer) Rimmke, Eric (Erika) Rimmke; 4 grandchildren, Madelyn, Abigail, Micah, and Joshua; her brother, Charles Southcomb; her brother-in-law, Brent (Denise) Rimmke; and several nieces and nephews. Caryl was preceded in death by her parents; and sister-in-law, Maureen Southcomb. Friends may meet the family from 10:00-11:00 am Saturday December 10 at the Portage United Church of Christ, 2731 West Milham Rd where a memorial service will follow at 11:00 am. Memorial luncheon with be held at Kalamazoo Country Club at 12:30 pm. Private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to CurePSP or National Multiple Sclerosis Society. To view Caryl's personalized webpage please visit https://www.langelands.com
