Carol Fleming

Fleming , Carol 3/9/1936 - 5/6/2022 Kalamazoo Carol Jean Fleming, age 86, went onto her eternal home on Friday, May 6, 2022. Carol was born March 9, 1936 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Joe and Henrietta (Harmens) VanWerden. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1953 and went right into the workforce as the personal secretary for the Kalamazoo City Attorney. She retired as the office manager of Merchants Publishing Company in Kalamazoo. On October 8, 1953, she was united in marriage to her childhood sweetheart, M. Jack Fleming. He was the love of her life and best friend. Carol is survived by her husband, Jack; son, Jack (Patricia) Fleming; two grandchildren, Kelly Fleming and Ryan (Lauren) Fleming; three great-grandchildren, Lucas Fleming, Emmett Fleming, and Gabriel Fleming-White; and brother, Richard VanWerden. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold VanWerden. Per her wishes, Carol's body has been donated to Wayne State University for medical scientific research. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at gracespring Bible Church, 8643 Gull Road. Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care.
