She married her high school sweetheart, Rob, and they both left Hesperia and attended Western Michigan University together. She started her beloved career as a teacher and had her two children. Carmen later married Charlie, and they settled in their cozy home on Long Lake in Portage. She loved her house on the lake, and all of her wonderful friends in the neighborhood. Carmen took pride in her independence, and took wonderful care of her home just recently having it beautifully renovated. She enjoyed taking care of her yard, her garden, and her flowers. Carmen was an early riser and enjoyed the beautiful sunrises over the lake. She cherished watching her grandson, Jon, play soccer from his childhood through college, not missing one game. She cherished spending time with family. She had a gift for teaching, and she was so friendly with everyone. Carmen immensely enjoyed reading and getting together with her Book Club friends. She touched so many lives. Carmen will never be forgotten and forever loved. Rest in peace. A celebration of her life is being planned and will be held outside at her home on Long Lake on Saturday, October 3rd from 2-6 p.m. Rain date will be Sunday, October 4th.
