Carl Eugene Sherfield, 96, of Portage, MI went to be with his Lord on Saturday, July 8, 2017. Carl was born on September 18, 1920 in Harrisburg, IL. He was the son of Jesse and Edna (Pomeroy) Sherfield. Carl graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1939 and then served in the United States Navy as a Signalman 2nd Class. He married the love of his life Gladys Vandevanter on May 31, 1941. Carl worked for Sequoia Press as a lithographer until retirement in 1984.

Carl is survived by his children Caroline Secondi, Randall (Anne) Sherfield, and Paul (Shirley) Sherfield; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and sister Phyllis Watson. He is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Gladys; son Gary; grandsons Brian Sherfield and Billy Secondi; and 4 sisters.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 14, 2017 from 1 – 2pm, at Life Story Funeral Home, 5975 Lovers Lane, Portage (269-344-5600). A funeral service will follow at the same location.
