Carl DeVall

DeVall, Carl Portage Carl DeVall, 91, of Portage, MI, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 13, 2022. He was the husband of Cornelia (Nieboer) DeVall for 70 years. Cornelia preceded him in death on September 28, 2021. Born in Kalamazoo, MI, he was the son of the late Carl and Jenny DeVall and brother of Rex (Doris) DeVall, Wayne (Ruth) DeVall and Geraldine (Harold) DerHammer. Besides his parents and wife, Carl was preceded in death by both of his brothers, his sister and their spouses. Carl retired from the City of Kalamazoo where he was a longtime caretaker of the city cemeteries. He was a member of Calvary Bible Church and loved to serve his Lord. Carl always put his family at the center of his life and cherished spending time with them. He enjoyed boating and fishing, as well as riding his bike on the Kal-Haven Trail. Carl is survived by three children, Connie DeVall of Kalamazoo, Tom (LuAnne) DeVall of Concord, NH and Steven DeVall of Kalamazoo, MI; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family will receive friends at Calvary Bible Church, 855 S. Drake Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49009, on Friday, May 20, 2022 from 10-11:00 AM, with a funeral service to follow beginning at 11:00 AM. Private interment with full military honors will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Bible Church.
