Candice Kelsey

Kelsey, Candice Portage Age 68, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. Candi was born in Kalamazoo, on June 3, 1954, the daughter of Joseph Charles and Doris Leah (Laurian) Schelb. Candi was an avid gardener and enjoyed flowers. She liked to travel. She had an eye for interior design and was very artistic in many other ways. She was a fun and outgoing, cheerful person. Every stranger was her best friend. More than anything Candi enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Wade Charles Kelsey of Indianapolis, IN, and Amy (Brant) Ziegler of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Gavin Kelsey, Kloee Kelsey, Mya Thomas, Jackson Ziegler, Claire Ziegler; great-granddaughter, Christina; siblings, Joe (Dawn) Schelb, Pat (Jim) Drobny, Lauri Passage; several nieces and nephews; aunt, Helen Frisbie; uncle, Lloyd Laurian; her former husband, Bill Kelsey; her four-legged companion, Lacy; and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandson, Zen Kelsey. Friends may call on the family on Thursday, August 18, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo. Candi will be laid to rest in a private family service at Mt. Ever Rest Memorial Park, South. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, in c/o the funeral home.
