Beverly Simonds

Simonds, Beverly J. of Kalamazoo Beverly passed away on Thursday afternoon, December 29, 2016 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. She was born on December 9, 1928 in Grand Ledge, MI, the daughter of the late Walter and Emma (Sanders) Kopkau. Beverly graduated from University of Michigan. She worked as a dental hygienist for several years. On March 26, 1955, she was united in marriage to Robert S. Simonds Jr. She was a member of First Congregational Church UCC in Kalamazoo for many years. Surviving are her husband of 61 years: Robert Simonds Jr.; their two daughters: Kathy Spilman of Kalamazoo and Carolyn (Ron) Kozlowicz of Darien, IL; five grandchildren: Elizabeth, Robert and Emily Spilman, Claire Kozlowicz and Nick (Carla) Kozlowicz; two great-grandchildren: Addison and Alex Kozlowicz; two brothers: Carl Kopkau of Englewood, FL and Gary (Sherry) Kopkau of Troy, MI; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street, with a funeral service to celebrate Beverly's life beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be directed to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, Loaves and Fishes or Housing Resources, Inc.
