Siemers, Beverly J. 2/7/1929 - 7/14/2021 Kalamazoo Beverly June (Luyendyk) Siemers, 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 14, 2021, at Rose Arbor Hospice of Southwest Michigan in Kalamazoo. Beverly was born in Kalamazoo on February 7, 1929, to Peter and Catherine (Dirkse) Luyendyk. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1946 and served on the reunion committee until she was 90. She attended Western Michigan College, where she met her husband Victor Siemers, a returning Army Air Force Veteran. They were married on September 7, 1948, and resided in Kalamazoo until 1960, when Victor's job offered a move to Meridian, Mississippi. In 1965 they moved back to Kalamazoo. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage, until Victor's passing in 2013. She worked at Industrial State Bank and as a secretary at Edison and Woodward Elementary Schools from 1965 to 1977. In 1983 she joined her husband and son Tom in a family-owned business, Siemers Inspection Service, a metrology lab in Vicksburg, Michigan. She was active for many years in Borgess Service League, and Ladies Library Association where she served as secretary and treasurer and enjoyed working in the kitchen. Beverly played the violin and was in several symphony orchestras. A move to Friendship Village in 2015 offered Beverly new activities and many new friends. She frequently met people who knew her family or did business with them. She enjoyed her friends, especially Moyra Ebling and Dorothy Newton. She loved being with her family, gardening, traveling, reading, crosswords, jigsaw puzzles, and following her beloved Detroit Tigers. Bev was a woman of faith always ready to help others, especially her family. A long time member of First United Methodist Church, she was a member of United Methodist Women. Beverly is survived by daughters Barbara (William) Vegter of Stevensville, MI, Patti (Dan) Corse of Kalamazoo, and son Tom Siemers of Portage. Beverly was the proud grandma of seven, and great grandma of eleven. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Howard (Anne), and Robert (Phyllis), two daughters Sallie (infant), and Katherine Gass, of Knippa, Texas. A celebration of life will be held in the Friendship Village Kiva, 1400 N. Drake Road, on August 20, at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Friendship Village Employee Appreciation Fund, to Rose Arbor Hospice of Southwest Michigan, or to First United Methodist Church, Kalamazoo. Private burial is at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Family and friends may share a condolence message online at www.joldersma-klein.com.
