Betty Tripp

Betty J.Tripp, age 81, of Portage, MI died Tuesday afternoon January 17, 2017. Betty was born March 23, 1935 in Hastings, Michigan a daughter of Fred and Goldie (Clapper) Main. She had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of her life and was employed with Midwest Fasteners for over 20 years, retiring in 2001. Years ago, she worked at the Upjohn Company for 9 years prior to giving birth to her son, Howard. Betty attended Southridge Church and was a member of the Pythian Sisters of Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard L. Tripp Sr. on January 15, 1994; a brother, Orville Main; and a sister, Grace Main. Betty is survived by a son, Howard L. Tripp Jr. of Portage; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 11 o'clock Saturday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Visitation will be 4-8pm Friday at the chapel. Private entombment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Pythian Sisters of Michigan for abused and battered children.
