Bertha Bos

Formerly of Vicksburg Age 81, passed away Friday, July 21, 2017. Bertha was born in Vicksburg, Michigan on April 20, 1936; the daughter of the late Frank and Theresa (Batjes) Peterman. On July 27, 1956, she was united in marriage to Howard J. Bos, who preceded her in death on April 27, 2009. Bertha was also preceded in death by a daughter in-law, Sandra Bos; son in-law, Doug Doorn and a sister, Karen Fox. Bertha was a long-time member of First Reformed Church of Portage and was active in the Dorcus Society where she used her sewing and quilting skills as a ministry to help those in need. She is survived by her children, Doug (Sue) Bos, Steve (Rebecca) Bos and Karleen Doorn; grandchildren, Matthew Bos, Samantha (Bryce) Myers, Ryan and Justin (Darcy) Bos, Peter, Daniel, Hannah and Benjamin Doorn and Kristen and Kelsey Gipson; and great-grandchildren, Natalie, Logan and Alayna. Bertha is also survived by her siblings, Joyce (Bill) VanderMay, Frank (Helen) Peterman, Phyllis (Paul) Vlietstra, Dorothy (Jerry) DeBlecourt; brother in-law, Vern (Julie) Fox and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2017 beginning at 11:00 AM at First Reformed Church of Portage, 7905 S. Westnedge Ave., Portage, MI 49002; with Rev. Clayton Smith officiating. Interment will be held at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. Visitation will be held at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service at the church.
