Bernard Maurice Fill, 96, of Paw Paw, passed away Monday October 4, 2021 at Maple Lake Assisted Living in Paw Paw. He was born May 28, 1925 in Vicksburg, the son of Nathan Fill and Helen (Dorbin) Fill. Bernie proudly served as a Marine during WWII, and also the Korean War, where he received a Purple Heart. He loved the warm climate of California, and in the late 40's he began working in Hollywood where he had dreams of becoming a movie star. Bernie enjoyed tending to his garden and his yard, and he was a huge fan of the Patriots and Tom Brady. Most important to Bernie, were his grandchildren and his family. Bernie is survived by his two sons, Thomas (Joy) Fill and Robert Fill; two grandchildren, Kyle (Amy) Fill and Kelly (Paige) Fill; along with his great grandchildren, Alexis, Kaleb and Charlotte. Bernie was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary and Teresa, and his two brothers, Edward and Raymond. Private family services will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery, where burial will take place with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
