Bernard Karas

Bernard J. “Bernie” Karas, aged 84 of Grand Rapids, passed away on Wednesday morning, April 29, 2015 at Spectrum Health – Butterworth Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Pauline Karas; his children, Thomas (Doris) Karas, Rose (Robbin) Labanowski, Paul (Betsy) Karas; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Stanley (Dorothy) Karas, Raymond Karas, Edward (Bernie) Karas, Charles Karas, Jerome Karas, Sr. Pacelli Karas; his sister-in-law, Mary (Bruce) LeMieux; many nieces, nephews and friends. Bernie retired from Consumers Energy where he worked for 40 years. He was an avid golfer at Canadian Lakes. Cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Meeting House at Porter Hills Village, 3600 E. Fulton St. in Grand Rapids. Relatives and friends may meet his family at Porter Hills on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the service begins at 1:00 PM.
