Barbara Vander Bor

Barbara Ann (Fuller) Vander Bor, 80, went peacefully at her home to be with her Lord and Savior after a brief illness on November 8, 2018. She was born February 1, 1938 in Elkhart, Indiana to the late John and Dorothy (Kintzel) Weatherwax. Barb was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed writing and cookingoften entertaining at her home and cabin. She liked nature and spent a lot of time camping with Ed and her grandkids. She especially loved her family. She attended Berean Baptist Church, and was involved in many other Christian organizationsshe was a fine Christian lady that loved the Lord. She was preceded in death by her first husband, George E. McKitrick, in 1971; and brothers Jack and Gary Weatherwax. She leaves behind her loving husband of 32 years, Edward Vander Bor; children, Mark (Ohnalee) McKitrick, Mike (Donna) Vander Bor, Todd (Anne) Vander Bor, and Lori (John) Gardner; grandchildren, Heather (Michael) Anderson, Elijah (Stephanie Loveland) McKitrick, Steven (Stephanie Andring) Vander Bor, Chloe Vander Bor, Will Vander Bor, Alyssa (Chance) Brown, Morgan (Tyler Fleetwood) Vander Bor, Andrew Gardner, and Nathan Gardner; one great-grandson, Asher McKitrick; a special friend, Kareen Tripp; a lifelong friend, Pauline (Vander Bor) Houtkooper; and sisters-in-law, Sandy and Barbara Weatherwax. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 13th, at 1p.m. at Berean Baptist Church, 7813 South 12th Street, Portage, MI 49024. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 12-1p.m. Interment will immediately follow in Gennessee Prairie Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Berean Baptist Church or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
