Barbara June Matteson

Matteson, Barbara June Portage Matteson, Barbara June Portage Passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016 at the age of 85. Barbara was born on June 6, 1931, the daughter of the late Charles and Thelma Mason. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. Among her hobbies, she especially enjoyed flower gardening. Barbara was married to Lowell Matteson, who preceded her in death in 1990. She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Kloet and Paula (Tom) Oddy; two grandchildren, Tom (Debbie) Oddy and Tammy (Troy) VanTuinen; five grandchildren, Jake, Kelsey, Breanna, Brandon and Joey; one brother, Vern Mason; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Hord and two brothers, Gene Mason and Richard Mason. Barbara will also be greatly missed by her daughter Brenda's beloved therapy pet "Miss Bailey". Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Ave. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6th at the funeral chapel, officiated by Rev. James Dyke. Cremation will follow after the service and a private family graveside service will be held later in Portage South Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Visiting Nurses Association or American Heart Association .
