Barbara Evans

Age 86 of Kalamazoo, died December 4, 2019, at Borgess Medical Center. She was born October 7, 1933, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of William and Clara (Cole) Elliott. For over 50 years, Barb was married to Tom "Spark" Evans, who preceded her in death. She retired as an independent contract carrier for the Kalamazoo Gazette, after 29 years. Barb was an animal lover and gifted at crafting. She loved to knit, cross stitch, and receive visits from her grand dogs. She was most blessed by the time spent with her family. Her family includes her children: Donna Evans, Robert (Cheryl) Evans, Richard (Michelle) Evans, John (Gina) Evans, and Lawrence (Ana) Evans; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 12 PM, Noon on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at Spring Valley Church, 5240 Mt Olivet Rd, Kalamazoo. Graveside services will be held in Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be directed to Kalamazoo Animal Rescue, PO Box 3295, Kalamazoo, MI, 49003.
