Surrounded by her loving family, Barbara A. Filber, age 82, was received in the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at her residence. Barbara was born in Yorkville, April 23, 1934, daughter of the late Nicholas and Barbara (Nee: Schuster) Willing.

On February 28, 1955 she was united in marriage to George W. Filber Jr. who preceded her in death March 16, 1994. Barbara was employed for many years with Racine Unified School District as a teacher’s assistant and touched the lives of many children. She was a longtime member of Atonement Lutheran Church. Barbara was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished time with her family. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her five children, George (Heidi) Filber III, Susan Drenkhahn, Jacqueline Miller, Anna Filber, Daniel Filber, all of Racine; her grandchildren, Amanda, Rachel, and Sarah, Drenkhahn, Michelle (Michael) Norby, Georgie (Erica) Filber IV, Liza Miller; eleven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Beverly Filber; special niece, Cindy George; her beloved cat, Cody; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brother, Andrew (Lois) Tabor; sister, Rose (Alfred) Daher; son-in-law, Gary Miller; great-grandson, Ethan Norby; special friend, Joan Gottfredson; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2016, 12:00 P.M. at Living Faith Lutheran Church (formerly Atonement Lutheran Church), 2915 Wright Avenue with Rev. Dr. Warren Williams officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church from 10:30 A.M. until time of service at 12:00 P.M. Memorials to Catch a Dream Foundation, 2485 Ennis Road, Starkville, MS 39759 or to Hospice Alliance have been suggested.

A special thank you to Barbara’s caregiver, Mary, from BrightStar and Mohammad from Hospice Alliance for their loving and compassionate care.
