Gould, Anthony Joseph "I thank God for this most amazing day" was how Anthony "Tony" Joseph Gould greeted each morning or evening. Tony, loving Husband of Jan Reese Gould, and beloved Father of Jason Anthony Gould and Adam Joseph Gould, passed away on December 23, 2020 at the home shared with his wife in Todos Santos, Mexico. Tony was 73 years of age and had congenital heart disease but often said, "I'm just happy to be here!" Tony was born on May 30, 1947 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to John and Katherine Gould. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School, served his Country for three years during the Vietnam War and returned home to complete his BS in Business Administration from Western Michigan University. Tony and Jan were married in 1994 and co-parented their two sons, Jason and Adam, with Tony's first wife, Ruth Diekema Gould. Tony and Jan retired to Mexico in 2007 after completing a two year RV trip through the USA and Canada. Tony's 35 years in the Technology Sales Industry helped him to understand that his career was one of the paths by which he could embrace his core values of serving family, friends, church, and community. He often reminded himself and others that "Life is a journey, not a destination." Tony's wonderful "joie de vivre" led him to live on a boat in Sausalito with Jan while enjoying a skyline view of San Francisco; loving companionship and playful romps with their pets Wookie, Spike, Moose and Kramer, who brought them years of happy memories; and volunteering for those in need through various churches, regardless of denomination. Tony enjoyed the delights of great foods and wines from many different cultures. Close friends nicknamed him "Champagne Tony" as much a tribute to his taste of the "bubbly" as to his outgoing personality! 60's Soul and Rock 'n' Roll and The Beatles, was considered "real music" by Tony, and it gave him joy to pass on this love of music to his Sons. Debating politics and talking through the ever shifting sands of business with anyone willing to engage, agreeing or disagreeing with his ideas - often with laughter or not - was one of Tony's greatest passions. In recent years, his Grandchildren, Odin, Lucy and Teddy brought him wonderful joy and no one could be more proud of them than their "Nio" as they lovingly called their Grandfather. Tony has now joined his Father, John, his Mother, katherine, his Sister, Concetta, and his Brother, John who passed before him. Tony's Wife, Jan, his Sister, Jan Marie, his Sons, Jason and Adam, his Daughter-in-Law, Joanna, his Grandchildren, Odin, Lucy and Teddy, and several nieces and nephews, including Heidi, Trevor, Megan, and Gabrielle, all hold Tony in their hearts with loving memories and are comforted by remembering his wonderful laughter, quick wit, empathy for others, and his overwhelming love of life. A Celebration of Tony's Life with family and friends will be held on Tony's birthday in Todos Santos to honor his memory and his wonderful joy of life. Friends who wish to help others are welcome to contribute to The American Heart Association in Tony's memory. We love you and we will see you again our dear Tony.
