Anne Verstelle

Anne H. Verstelle, age 93, of Kalamazoo, MI went home to be with her Lord on October 25, 2016. She was born May 9, 1923 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Samuel and Frances (Luteyn) Dykstra. She was employed with Kalamazoo State Hospital and Western Michigan University, retiring in 1983. Anne was a longtime member of the Second Christian Reformed Church. On September 26, 1946 she was united in marriage to Albert Verstelle who preceded her in death on May 4, 1998. She was also preceded by a brother Thomas Dykstra. Surviving are two daughters Donna (Harvey) Kragt and Sandy (Norm) Gruizenga; grandchildren Michael (Karen) Kragt, Jeff (Leslie) Kragt, Becky (Matt) Hazelhoff, Jenny (Greg) DeGroot, Kristi Gruizenga, Bryan (Megan) Gruizenga; great-grandchildren Geoff, Nathan, Madison, Zack, Zoe, Sara, Katelyn, Mieke, Millie, Alex; sister Jean VandeVord; brother Sam Dykstra; in-laws Bill (Norma) Verstelle; nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00PM on Thursday, October 27th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. A private family interment will be in East Cooper Cemetery, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00PM Friday, October 28th at Second Christian Reformed Church (3015 Nichols Rd). Memorials in Anne's memory may be directed to Second Christian Reformed Church Activity Building Fund or to Park Village Pines.
