Anne L. Witters, age 83 of Kalamazoo, died on December 8, 2025. She was born on August 2, 1942, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Frederick and Cecilia (Charkowski) Tackett. She grew up on Long Lake in Portage, Michigan and was a 1960 graduate of Portage Central High School. Anne loved Freedom and Fast Cars. She worked at the Upjohn Company until 1984 when she began her own cleaning business. On September 3, 1982, she married Bill Witters, Jr. and their families blended. Anne had a big heart for children. During the forty plus years that Anne and Bill were members of Lakeland Reformed Church, they spearheaded the launch of and helped sustain a Kids Hope Program. In the Vicksburg school system, this program connected at risk students' fifth grade and below with mentors from Lakeland to help with schoolwork and to develop friendships. Anne and Bill were also directly involved as mentors at points in time. Around three years ago, Anne and Bill transferred to Calvary Community Church out of their desire to connect three of their great grandchildren, Gabriel, Elijah, and Willow, with the youth group at Calvary. Anne's family includes her husband of 43 years, Bill Witters, Jr.; her daughter Valerie Walker; her stepchildren; Dawn (Reed) Shilts, Tammy (Dave) Parent, Bill (Amy) Witters III, Renee (Richard) Moore; her grandchildren: Sarah Shilts, Andrew Witters, Amanda Davis, Anthony Parent, Julie Parent, Aaron (Jessica) Hollister, Wil (Lauren Magley) Witters, Celina and Dalton Moore; her great-grandchildren: Brooklyn Witters, Gabriel, Elijah and Willow Davis, Hunter Hollister, and Connor Hollister; and her sister Barb (Marvin) Hollis. Anne was preceded in death by her parents, her son Michael Buck and her sister Elaine Houtkooper. Friends may gather with her family on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 AM at Lakeland Reformed Church,10442 Sprinkle Road, Vicksburg MI 49097, where her service will be held at 11:00 AM with Pastor Greg Van Heukelom and Pastor Ed Schmidt officiating. There will be a luncheon immediately following the service. Burial will be at South Portage Cemetery after the luncheon; all are welcome to join the family there. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Anne may be made to the Kids Hope Program at Lakeland Reformed Church or the Youth Group at Calvary Community Church.
