Anna Tuinier

Tuinier, Anna Kalamazoo Age 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, November 3, 2016. Ann was born in Kalamazoo on April 9, 1926 to the late Jacob and Jennie (VanSeventer) Alphenaar. She was a graduate of Kalamazoo Christian High School. On May 13, 1948 she married John Tuinier, who preceded her in death on July 2, 1997. Ann had a deep faith in the Lord; she was a long-time member of Grace Christian Reformed Church and most recently of Covenant United Reformed Church. She enjoyed volunteering and gave many hours of dedicated time to the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, Park Village Pines, the Red Cross and Bronson Hospital. In addition to her parents and husband, Ann was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Nelson; brother, John Alphenaar; sister, Gertrude (Henry) Tenhoor and great-granddaughter, Riley DeBoode. She is survived by her children, Carolyn (Ray) Kotsovos, Bruce (JoAnn) Tuinier, Janis (Jeff) Niehof and Marcia (David) Hyde; son in-law, Richard Nelson and several grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Rika VanderPloeg; brother, Harold (Joyce) Alphenaar; sister in-law, Betty Alphenaar and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Covenant United Reformed Church, 3724 Lovers Ln., Kalamazoo, MI 49001. Private interment will be at Ft.
