Angie Miller

Angie Miller passed away unexpectedly Wednesday night, May 22nd. Anyone who knew Angie knew that she was as stubborn as an ox. She was outspoken and independent. When she was upset, everyone knew. She overshared at every attempt and was as nosey as one could be. Angie always had to be the center of attention. But everyone also knew that Angie loved unconditionally. She acted as a mom to a lot of people during her life and was loved by even more. She would do anything to help those she loved. She prided herself in the daycare she ran for many years when Barbie was a kid. She raised many a child through those doors and tried to stay in contact with each one. She was so proud of who they all became. She loved her Portage Northern Huskies and had missed working on their games immensely. She was so proud to be a Husky! Her Husky Jersey hung proudly in her room with the signatures of many of the athletes she cheered on. Angie was raised to be a strong, independent woman. There was nothing Angie could not do, or at least there was nothing she would not try to do herself. She was proud of that independence. She never let anyone tell her it was a "man's job."The past few years had been a struggle with her heart condition. Her inability to live at the pace she preferred was problematic for her. We often found her pushing herself too hard and too long. But she did what she wanted to do and what she loved to do. She ate the foods she loved. She spent lots of time outside in her garden or sitting in her sunroom with a good book. She loved spending time with her grandkids. Barbie recently moved back to Portage for work, so Angie got to spend the past month with 3 of her grandchildren. This quality time with her grandchildren brought a new spark of life back to her. None of us expected the knock on the door Tim received Wednesday night or the call Barbie received. Angie's death took us all by shock. We knew she had heart problems, but we never imagined this night would come so soon. Angie has always expressed her wishes to be buried by her mother in Watervliet. The plots are already owned by the family, but Angie did not qualify for any life insurance due to her heart condition. This sudden death places an unexpected financial hardship on Tim. Any and all donations to help cover some of the costs of her funeral would be greatly appreciated. She is survived by her husband, Tim Miller; daughter, Barbie Dunn (Joshua Dunn); son, Larry Sims; grandchildren Josie, Glaydon, Deacon, and Aurora; and mother-in-law, Lois Miller. She is also survived by her sister DeLynn Simmons (Stephen Simmons), brother Scott Yeske (Shelia Yeske), brother Greg Yeske, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Yeske, sister, Judy Yeske, and father-in-law, Glaydon Miller. Services will be at 4:00 pm Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 411 E Centre Ave, Portage, MI 49002, with Pastor Ryan Doyle officiating.
