Alvan Traxler, age 88, of Kalamazoo passed away October 5, 2015 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. Alvan was born on January 19, 1927 to Alvan Sr. & Lillian Traxler. He was a prominent Local Business owner for 36 years. Alvan serviced his country proudly during WWII. Very athletic, Alvan was an avid golfer, tennis player and swimmer. Visit with his family and friends on Sunday, October 11 from 3:00-5:00p.m. at the Life Story Funeral Home, Portage; 5975 Lovers Lane (344-5600). A service with military honors is being scheduled at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Alvan’s family includes his wife Jean; his sons: David (Wendi) Traxler and Bob (Mary) Traxler; step-sons: Eric (Li Li) Mills and Lee Holdridge; grandchildren: Allison Traxler, Rachel Traxler, Nicole Traxler-Wright, Michael Pattengale and Christina Pattengale; step grandchildren: Josh Holdridge, Jesika Klima and Javan Mills. Alvan was preceded in death by his son Craig Traxler and his daughter Bonnie Pattengale. Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
