McDonald, Allen 2/5/1948 - 1/30/2021 Kalamazoo Allen 'Al' McDonald, 72, transitioned to Heaven on January 30, 2021. Adoring father/grandfather, loving husband, and the best friend you could ever have, Al spent his last full moon in Florida, his favorite place to be when not in his hometown of Kalamazoo, MI. In addition to his long career as a plumber pipe fitter at the Upjohn Co. (Pfizer), Al was an artist making metal sculptures and was passionate about cars. Al always had a smile on his face, a bright perspective on life, a sharp wit, and was willing to help in any situation. When asked how he was doing; Al's favorite response was 'if I was any better, I'd be twins.' Al was preceded in death by his parents Malcolm and Doris McDonald. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia McDonald, his adored daughter Carly De McDonald of Lawton, MI, and Brother Bruce (Carol) McDonald of Gobles, MI. He is also survived by his stepchildren Dan Degen, Diana (Will Gifford) Degen, and Don (Lisa) Degen; his grandchildren, Owen and Adelaine Gifford and Ellie and Emmett Degen; and his nephews and nieces. Interment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Al was a true family man, lover of life, art, and grilling. A forever friend!
