Alfred John Czarny, “Fred”, age 83, passed away at home on April 9, 2016 following a long battle with cancer and COPD. Alfred was born March 23, 1933 in Chicago to John and Anna (Wodka) Czarny. He moved to Burlington, WI early in his marriage. Fred was an Army veteran whose ship was rerouted from Korea to Germany as the end of the Korean War was declared. He retired from American Motors/ Chrysler in Kenosha as a proud union member after 36 years of service.

Fred is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Rose (Nee: Lupo); daughter Karen, sons John and Ken, grandson Ryan (Brittany) and granddaughter Rachel (Shawn). He is also survived by his brothers William (Evelyn) and Rudy (Marcia), along with special daughter Jolly Waukau and many extended family members. Proceeded in death by his devoted son Richard, parents, sister Sophie, brother Edmund (Eileen) and other family members.

A Mass celebrating his life will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 6400 Spring St. Racine, WI, Friday, April 15, 2016, 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Terry Huebner officiating. Visitation with the family begins Friday at the church 9:00 A.M. until time of Mass at 10:00 A.M. Private burial with full military honors will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.

Al’s family extends its deepest appreciation to Dr. Mark Choi and all the nurses at the Wheaton Franciscan Cancer Center in Racine who provided four years of compassionate care, kind words and companionship during his bi-weekly chemo treatments. We also thank the Heartland Home Hospice team for the care provided during the last four months of Fred’s life.
