Aleta (Rogers) (VanStelle) Hutchinson

Aleta passed away peacefully on September 22, 2023. She was born Aleta Joy Rogers, November 01, 1926 in Manchester, Tennessee to William and Katie (Ray) Rogers.

She grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan and graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School. In her adolescent years, teens and into her 20's she participated in various recitals performing gymnastics and dancing everything from ballet to tap and hula. She was known as Sis Rogers to all of her friends.

She married Gilbert VanStelle in 1953. During that time she worked at Upjohn Pharmaceutical which is now Pfizer and at the Kalamazoo Gazette. They divorced in 1980 and he died in 1998.

In December of 1989, she married Kenneth Hutchinson. She worked with Ken at the family business of B & H appliance until they both retired. They built a house in Fairfield Glade, Tennessee and moved in 1994. They loved to travel and visited much of the southern and western U.S., Hawaii and Alaska. They also enjoyed several cruises to the Caribbean and Mexico.They returned to live in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 2019.

Aleta is survived by her brother William (Andrece) Rogers Jr., her sister Sharon (David) Sinclair and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth and her brother E.D. (Marion) Rogers and her parents.

As per her request Aleta will be cremated. Her ashes will be interred in the Alamo Cemetery in Alamo, Michigan. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
