Albert “Al” J. Salamone, age 84, passed away Monday, April 25, 2016 at Wheaton Franciscan - All Saints Medical Center. Al was born in Independence, LA, January 23, 1932.

On May 28, 1959 he was united in marriage to Diana J. Goltz. Al was employed by American Motors Corp., Memco, and lastly at Quadra, retiring in 1999 after fourteen years of service. He was a longtime member of St. Mary’s by the Lake Catholic Church. An avid bowler in his younger years and he also enjoyed fishing and gardening. More than anything, he treasured time spent with his family.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Diana; his son, Chris (Joy) Salamone; his daughter- in-law, Cheri Salamone; his grandchildren, Kim Salamone, Cynthia (Don) Sheckles, Jessica Salamone his great-grandchildren, Michael Shane Salamone, Nicholas Lee Salamone, Elijah Jacob Salamone, Donny Lee Sheckles; brothers and sister, Vince (Doris) Salamone, Rosalie Salamone, Frank (Carol) Salamone; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Roberta (Ken) LaFave, Terry Goltz; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents Mariano and Mary Salamone, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael and thirteen siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 29, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s by the Lake Catholic Church, 7605 Lakeshore Drive, with Rev. Stephen J. Stradinger officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M.
