Agnes Zwart

Agnes Mae Zwart, age 85, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016. Agnes was born December 14, 1930 in Kalamazoo, to the late John and Grace (Schreuder) Delger. Agnes was united in marriage to Sidney Zwart on May 6, 1949 who preceded her in death in September of 2011. Agnes was a former member of Second Christian Reformed Church. She was the bookkeeper for Sid Zwart Carpets, which she and her husband owned for many years. In her spare time, she loved to read and shop. Her family fondly remembers shopping with her and trips to Birch Run and Toronto. She taught the girls to bake. Agnes is survived by her children, Linda (Tom) VandenBerg, Barb (Arnold) Woldhuis and Denise (Rick) Glas; 8 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren who always called her, "Opoe"; siblings, Martin (Chris) Delger and Emily (Sherm) Adams; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank (Joyce) Zwart, Judy Zwart, Ralph Zwart and Gordon (Dona) Zwart; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer a special thanks to The Springs nursing staff and aides for the loving way in which they cared for Agnes. The family will greet friends on Thursday, February 4th from 5-8:00pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street where a memorial service will take place on Friday, February 5th at 1:00pm. Pastor Joel VanderWal will officiate. A private interment will take place in West Cooper Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Agnes' name may be directed to The Springs or to Hospice Care of S.W. Michigan.
